About

I take an innovative, comprehensive and science-based approach to help my patients optimize their brain health and overall physical and mental vitality. I am committed to being your partner in wellness and empowering you to be the best and most healthy version of yourself.

My Story

As co-founder of the Midwest Center for Brain Health, my mission is to help people who are experiencing cognitive decline through leading-edge, science-based medicine. I have personally seen the emotional, psychological and economic devastation that Alzheimer’s dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases can cause.

Currently, conventional medicine offers little hope to someone with an Alzheimer’s diagnosis and it remains a leading cause of death in the U.S. We can change this and offer people hope. A wave of research conducted in the field of neurology is helping to deconstruct conditions like Alzheimer’s disease in a way that allows us to identify the underlying causes of neurodegenerative conditions.

Our goal at MCBH is to stop cognitive decline in its tracks and help our patients reclaim their lives so they can enjoy many more productive, fulfilling years.

After working almost two decades in the field of biomedical research, in addition to my clinical practice, I have delved deep into the latest research on brain health to develop a cutting edge, comprehensive program with Dr. Kenton Anderson focused on the prevention and reversal of cognitive decline.

Besides being a naturopathic doctor, I am a wife, mother to two incredible young men, writer, speaker and researcher. Just like you, I’ve had my own health challenges that dominated my life for years. I spent most of my 20s and 30s dealing with health problems including weight gain, “brain fog,” profound fatigue and crippling depression and anxiety. My symptoms would wax and wane. When it would become unbearable, I would consult my primary care doctor who would suggest a new medication. Sometimes the medication would provide a bit of relief from the symptoms, but often not for long. The symptoms would always come back and sometimes be even worse. Honestly, there were times when I felt that life wasn’t worth living because I was so tired of feeling sick.

A New Approach to Health

My life turned around when I attended a conference on holistic and integrative medicine in Washington state and decided to listen to a presentation by a naturopathic doctor. I was so inspired that I found a doctor trained in natural medicine. With his help, I was able to take charge of my health. He showed me that there were many factors I could control that were affecting my health, such as poor diet, lack of sleep and chronic stress. Within a few weeks, I began to feel better than I had in years. The anxiety, depression and brain fog lifted. I began to enjoy life again. I learned that the human body has an amazing ability to heal and I felt empowered. My health became my most cherished asset. Because of this newfound enthusiasm for natural medicine, I decided to attend naturopathic medical school so I help others find optimal health and reclaim their lives like I had.

Working with Me

I practice science-based, precision medicine. I do the detective work necessary to undercover the root cause of illness rather than just treat symptoms. My mission is to help people feel fully balanced and healthy in body, mind and soul. This means helping people increase not only their lifespan but also their healthspan—the years free from chronic disease, full of wellness and vitality.

In Latin, the word doctor (docere) means “teacher.” I have a passion for empowering individuals with the knowledge and tools needed to transform their lives.

The pursuit of health is not a linear process, and my own experience helped me understand that there are often road bumps along the way. My job is to help you stay on track with focus and motivation so you can rewrite the story of your life. It’s time to leave illness behind and step into a new future filled with vibrant wellness. Here’s to creating health!
